Jupiter 15-03-2017
« on: 23:10:23, 16 March, 2017 »
Hi all
Finally! some good conditions to try out some new planetary imaging gear.
Using the Tal 200k on iOptron iEQ45 pro,
Cam is a QHY 5 III 174 mono, ZWO ADC, Altair Astro x3 barlow, QHY RGB filters.

Each run was 2000 frames of RGB at 45 fps captured with Sharpcap, stacking and wavelets in R6, final RGB compose and tweaking in Gimp 2.9.

Thanks guys,
I've reprocessed the second one using the x2 drizzle feature in R6
Also here is one taken with the planet killer filter.

Cheers

Thanks Dean,
the ADC does cause me one problem, I haven't worked out a way to set it with a mono camera.
So I have to set it up visually and then change to the camera. Or get a colour camera just for the set up stage. Maybe doesnt sound a great deal but in the dark with cold fingers simple tasks are made trickier, and then you have to refocus.
Some people say you dont need an ADC if you capture in RGB, but I suspect with Saturn only managing 15 degrees elevation for the next few years, and the other planets not being a lot better either, it will make a difference.
