NGC7000 & IC5070 - Atik 16200
« on: 08:25:57, 05 August, 2017 »
First image of the new season for me.  As usual a bright moon and pesky clouds curtailed the session, so the attached consists of 5 x 1200 seconds (1 hour 40 mins) worth of Ha data, via the usual equipment and software detailed below.  Bias and Flat calibrated, no darks. 2.33 at arc sec/pixel.

Looking forward to better conditions, darker skies and NO moon.

Thanks for looking.  Jim

Very nice. Maybe a bit oversharpened/deconvoluded (is that a real word ?) for my taste.

Nice one Jim  :big_clap: if that's with bad conditions and a full moon, then you're in for a real belter under perfect conditions  :urock:

Thanks guys.

Tapio while I do like to use multi-layer high pass sharpening I could have held back a little to tone down the sharpening but with only 100 minutes of data it was never going to yield a top draw image regardless.  Hopefully I can add some more Ha soon and even some OIII and adopt a more measured approach during by a reprocess. Thanks for the feed back.

Still, it was good to shake the cob webs off and do some imaging after the summer break.

I have another go at processing with a less aggressive approach to sharpening (no deconvolution in any version). I have also added an inverted image which I think helps to tease out some of the nebulosity in a more eye friendly manner.

Thanks for looking Jim

I managed to gather another 2 hours and 40 minutes worth last night before retiring.  The total is now 4 hours all in 20 minute subs. 2.33 arc sec/pixel. Planning to double this integration time before starting on some OIII (clouds, moon, wind and wife permitting).

Thanks for looking Jim

Coming on nicely, Jim......... unfortunately, the only thing you can predict that'll limit you imaging more, is the moon

Thanks Mark I suspect you are correct the next best prediction would be a clear night that coincides with the brightest of full moons and storm force winds! Almost gauranteed! Fingers crossed for a few more clear nights this month albeit this coming week does not look good. ATB Jim

That's a beauty Jim and the extra data clearly shows.

Thanks Phil.  The clouds/moon are not cooperating so I am struggling to make further progress with this one. ATB Jim
