M16 Eagle Nebula: Canon 6D mod + RC8
« on: 23:12:19, 08 August, 2017 »
This is one I wanted to image since I started with astrophotography...the famous Pillars Of Creation image from Hubble is probably the thing that started my curiosity several years ago, and I always wanted to take a picture myself of it.

Years and experience taught me I was not going to be able to take a similar pic, but that made me even more eager...and so now with proper weather and visibility and a camera sensitive to HA, I have it a go....this is the result and probably so far the image I'm most proud of because of personal attachment to M16.

Is about 2.5h of 8 minutes subs at 800 iso...as with all my images I use dithering and drizzle, so being on full frame is a whopping 8500pixel wide!

Super M16, I just cannot get that low on the horizon to do it.

Thanks yes I have that zone available for imaging for about two hours (considering that is not dark enough till late), so I tried to use it...next time (or year!) I need to check if I can go lower than M17...sadly the Ophiucus part is covered so that is now the next widefield I want to do!

Very nice, this one is on my list for the same reason.

I saw a picture of it years ago and printed it out, kept it until it faded away.
I only thought about it recently but I'm sure that picture is what got me started in AP
