C49 Rosette - Ha + OIII with and extra OIII Layer
« on: 14:47:47, 11 February, 2018 »
I managed to get 4 hours of 20 minute exposures on Friday night before C49 disappeared behind the hedge.

Processed as Bi-colour in Star Tools then layered in the OIII again to try and bring some blue out. I've still got a lot to learn about NB processing but not enough time at the moment.

Edit: I have added the basic Bi-colour for comparison - this has much better definition.

Feedback Welcome

Thanks

Jon

Data looks great Jon. Processing is a matter of time and developing a workflow. Easier now you have some data to work with.

Thanks everyone for the feedback.

Getting better Annie, I made a giant triangular box on castors so that I can leave everything set-up and ready to go in the garage. Made a huge difference, I can be up and running in half the time it used to take, and I love the Polemaster - having to do polar alignment for each session was a pain, now it takes just a few minutes and is much more accurate than using the polarscope. The CCD camera was also a major step forwards, Chris gave me a lot of good advice on that, not just the quality of image but also the set-point cooling is a great time-saver as I can now take calibration frames the next day.

Cheers

It's now around 7 weeks since we had clear skies here, at least ones I could use, so thought I would work on some HST processing. It wasn't too successful and I ended up trying reprocessing the Bicolour above to try and get more natural colours (HA to Red, OIII to Blue and Green).

It's not what I intended but makes a change from the Golden Brown NB images I've been ending up with recently.

Comments welcome.

Thanks
