Well first things first.... The other half has instructed me that the build is to go no higher. So there goes my dome option 😭
On a plus note, I did manage to build the rolling roof frame today and add the diagonal supports to the sentry box.
So more pics is in order 😁

Wow, that's some piece of engineering !  Isn't the planning height restriction 2.4m ?!?

How high off the floor is your scope going to be as it doesn't look like you can see much sky (could be the camera angle) ?!?

Cheers guys 😊
Si, to answer your question, the height restriction is 2.5m to the eaves; the eaves being the bottom portion of the rafters that protrudes beyond the wall plate, to which soffits and facias are attached. The standard pitch of a roof is between 21 and 45° my roof is closer to 16 which in itself lowers my height at apex. I could theoretically go much higher, but that would be crazy..... Unless I wanted to get above more atmosphere!  😄
Yes the scope will be mounted high, but the false floor will compensate for this.
Everything will be cool, especially with roof open!!

You so need a hydraulic false floor that rises and lowers :)

There was me thinking "stilts" 😝
I've just discovered I've made a wee error in my maths based around the centre of rotation for the mount. I forgot to add the offset from the polar axis to the mount plate.
So I've got to dismantle my nice bit of woodworking and make it bigger! Bugger!! 😱😭😄😄😄😏😈

Ok. I've rebuilt most of the roof frame this evening, just waiting on a delivery of timber to arrive tomorrow, amongst which will be my new rail supports.
I'll grab some new pics in the morning.

Rebuilt and bigger. Had another delivery of materials arrive today. Hopefully I'll have the sheathing on by dark tomorrow.
Though I've two gates to build for a customer, so I'm thinking they had better be done first 😭😭

I'm sure it will all work out fine in the end Rich, these things never seem to stop being a work in progress.  I have just re-done my rolling roof this week and raised it 2 inches due to it sagging a  bit and catching as it opened, and re-felted it due to a leak or two, now I have gaps to fill - daft thing is I haven't done any astronomy since november!
