Hey Mark, you would normally be on the money but I've just come back from C.L. JONES and I've been quoted a fair few quid less than if I went to Stermat; and they deliver too ;)

I'll be picking up a few odds and ends from ode Stermat's, but that's about it.

Sounds like you've a little local knowledge fella??

Bit more done this afternoon. Routed all secured all cables. Rewired the warm room, installing a new red light and low wattage white light + 6 more outlets.
Next on my "to do" list is to lay the first 3 courses of block and install damp course before new slab is poured

Little bit more to the observatory build.
Two courses laid flat to protect the "yet to be placed" infill and subsequent 100mm slab from  seepage.
I'll be using DPM membrane and DC strip too. Better safe than sorry.

Bit more done today... First course and sub base down (not in pic)
Few days wait until I can go at it with a wacker and add the blinding and DPM. I'll be glad to get the slab poured.

Today's jobs... add blinding layer / level and tamp; add DPM; Mix concrete and pour.
I'm at the cut DPM stage as of now. I'll be mixing and pouring after my Tea break!!  :)
After which it's back to the walls.. :)

I only get a few hours here and a few hours there to build this project, but I'm pleased to say it's coming along.
Had to build a new entrance into the warm room so that I can access the observatory; especially as the walls are beyond scaling.
Constructed a door frame that also doubled as a lintel and a built a door out of timber off cuts. Next came the messy job of cutting the hole through into the warm room.
Then it was back to the walls.
Just top course to complete before I fix the roof plate in place and move on to the roof construction...

Well, having grotty hurricane wind weather for the best part of 4 months as allowed for procrastination which has resulted in a few design alterations to the obs. Where before I was going to use part of the existing outhouse as my warm room and just build a roof to the observatory, I've now decided to go with an 8'x7' observatory with an 8'x7' warm room, whilst keeping the 9'x14' outhouse area for another of my passions.
So what have I done? I've ripped the old roof off and removed all old timber as it was infested with woodlice and such. Then I chopped out the dividing wall as it wasn't laying at the centre point of the structure. Here I'll be erecting a partition that will also help support my ridge beam in the roof. It does mean I'll have to rewire everything.
This is going to be fun! 😎😎
