Title: M 027 - Dumbbell Nebula in Vulpecula
Post by: psjshep on 16:04:16, 21 August, 2012
Finally! an imaging night.

3 x 600s each of Ha, OIII & SII. Processed in Pixinsight (R=SII + 0.8*Ha, G=0.2*Ha + OIII, B=OIII) bit of curves & that's it. When I get more time I will pull out more of the shell, which is in there (& tone down the redish background).

1st is full size (scalled to 800 pixels), 2nd is a cropped zoom.

Camera : SXVR-H16
Guider : Lodestar on ZS66
OTA : AA 102mm f/7 triplet
Mount : Celestro CGE

Keeping to my 10 mins exposures.  Long exposures show a lot more

Title: M27 my first DSO for nearly a year

Hi All,

I have at last started imaging again though had major issues with Guiding :-/
This image of M27 was taken through my Altair Astro RC 8" using my Modded EOS 1000D with CLS filter
30x 30 second exposures at ISO 1600 the 30x 30 Second Darks.
I don't think its too bad considering the short exposures !

Here's a novelty, normal RGB colour image!
SW 200p @ f/5, HEQ5, Samsung SCB2001 cctv cam, Baader Neodymium filter.
approx 75 x 10sec images stacked in Registax 6 with 20 dark and 20 flats. Tweaked in Gimp 2.8.

Title: Another M27

After a frustrating start last night when my Cgem RTC battery died necessitating a new battery in the motor board and a factory reset I used the remaining time before the fog closed in by returning to my Atik 320E OSC to image M27.
7 x 10 min subs in Nebulosity through Ikharus 102mm refractor.

My first narrowband image and first time processing filters.
Atik 383L, Skywatcher Evostar ED80
Ha 1200 x 6

took Sii but didn't like the colour combination.

Hello fellow imagers,

Had some time this afternoon to process up the data from a few nights ago.  This is my first attempt at M27 the dumbbell nebula.  I did have a look on-line for a colour reference and there seemed to be as many colours as there were images.  So I just went with what I liked best which was kinda aqua blue - I think

Really like all the stars in this image and so many different colours - really enjoyed processing it !

Hope you like, of course comments VERY welcome as I'm still experimenting with the new OSC.
