Title: Comet Johnson and my first 3D printed astro gear
Post by: Einari on 18:41:59, 01 May, 2017
Sun here doesn't go below -18 so dark nights and season is wearing out.
But as a tradition I usually take a ending season trip to more rural site this time of year.

This time my intention was to image the brightest comets Johnson and Tuttle & co.
Also brought me a 3D printed hot shoe adapter so I could attach a 6 x 30 finder helping find the objects.
Worked as planned but at a threshold of too much momentum when imaging high in the sky.

Yeap, nicely done Tapio !

I'm actually in the process of setting up a 3D printing service having had quite a successful Kelling star party selling 3D printed [solar] filter holders... watch this space ;-)

Very nice capture ! How did you get your finder scope to mount to the cameras flash bracket ? This is first I've seen of this , really neat !

Thanks Ron.

Here's couple of images of the 3D printed hot shoe adapter.

3D printing - very exciting development and potentially the answer for so many astro issues providing precision and strength are up to the mark. Thanks for posting. ATB Jim
