I'd like to tell you but then I'd have to kill you   Stuff in development, a not-so-good coating and a scope with accurate tracking.  1 1/2 hrs and then smoke.  Coating materials now changed significantly.

Gents,

Any further news??

I just bought a PST and happen to have a large ERF already (actually came from Coronado years ago)...so am also interested in how to get the OTA off the scope without damage and in buying, if possible, an adapter to screw the filter/focuser assy onto a larger scope.

Hi Peter

Grab the PST OTA in one hand and the diagonal section in the other.  Unscrew.  Simple - it comes apart leaving the tuner attached to the diagonal section.  Then you just have to connect the diaganol bit to your scope with the erf at the pointy end.

In the same vein as your suggestion to me, slip 90% in gently from above, and secure with a thumb screw. Less chance of making your eyes water.

The one bonus I found was the the PST extention tube fitted perfectly into the thread on my Sony TRV camcorder... :-) (Happy days..as it saved me a few quid)

What's the size of that thread?

Hey there guys,

Quick question for anyone who may have seen this problem before.

Got my Cool ERF a few weeks ago and have appropriate adaptors and such but have run into a problem with the "new version" pst. Two broken Boa Constrictors so far (full size ones!). This didn't happen with my previous old-style scope so it looks like Coronado are now using a permanent or semi-permanent threadlocker. My question is has anyone managed to remove the extension tube on the new version?

Currently the PST is mounted with a spotting scope and ERF on the front, which works with the previous owner's old style PST. Just won't work with mine because I cannot get enough backfocus without removing the extension tube.

By the way, don't panic; This mod will only be used for imaging as I don't trust the setup without the internal erf  ;)

Many thanks,

Trev

my friend did it, Boa Constrictor is not strong enough, you need pipe clamp, yes, it will scratch the metalic surface, but you have no choice.
