Sorry, I'm not trying to be negative, I think it's a good idea, but I think it could be clearer as to what you want people to do.
This topic is here for suggestions so I don't take your comments as being negative.
I've updated the instructions on the help pages:
'Once you find the Big Dipper/The Plough, try and count the number of stars along the Big Dipper/The Plough 'handle' and the 'saucepan' as in the illustration below. Please include the stars within the 'saucepan'.'
Do you think this clearer or do you think it needs more detail?

Also the results don't work for me, I just see a white box with the Google logo in one corner and a slider in the other.
What browser are you using and what operating system?
I'll test it with whatever you're using and fix it if I can. There are problems with Google Maps and other browsers besides Internet Explorer. I have noticed that my Internet Explorer 6 and Firefox 2 browsers at work don't work but haven't found a reason why.
Cheers

OK, just to let you know the results don't work on firefox on the mac but work fine with apples Safari browser. Also works fine in Opera.
Hope this helps
Eddie
PS. Will post my sky results when it clears up and the moon is not about!

I'll have a look at it over the next few days.
I'll have to find a different way of adding the data to the map so it may take a little while.
Cheers

Just a quick one,
On the form it asks how many street light are in yor area. does this mean how many over looking your observing site ? How big of a area are you talking about ?. I had one looking straight into my garden so i shot it out with the air rifle. not been fixed yet.

I think the count should be the number of lights in line of sight from your observing area and those you can clearly see the effects from.
e.g. I've got two lights I can see from my back garden but I've got a light on the front of my house which I can't see but it casts an orange glow down the drive which I can see.
Is that clear? Not very good at explaining anything! :)

Unless your pollution is so bad you can't see Polaris, The area round Polaris has a good spread of magnitudes for limiting magnitude measurement and has the advantage of being in a pretty consistent altitude all year round eg see the chart here
http://skytonight.com/observing/objects/meteors/3304081.html?page=3&c=y
Of course, if your worst light pollution happens to be to the north it will bias your results somewhat
Robin
edit: link corrected It also includes other standard fields used by the International Meteor Organisation so our data can be made compatible with other existing systems.

It took awhile but I've started to have a look at the display of the Sky Quality Results.
Not been well lately so I'll do what I can when I can.
I think I've fixed the display but it needs testing. I've tested it with IE7 and Firefox 2 and it seems to work ok.
I'm downloading the latest Netscape and Opera browsers so I can test those and fix the site if necessary.
EDIT: I've tested Netscape and Opera and they work ok.
