lol roger, i know but if i take less than 9 then i dont get a good match either. i found the only good way was to take darks immediately after lights. saying that look at ro's image he's more or less got rid of all with the amp glow. im going to have another pratice with your data.

regards

I thought I'd have a quick play with this while Ugly Betty was on the telly.  Again, I'm not the best but this was great fun to play with.
I did an initial stretch followed by gradient removal (top right to bottom left), a couple more stretches, false flat to remove the amp glow and a bit of local contrast enhancement.

Ro,

You say stretch ( what do you mean ? )  The Gradient removal used was this with Noel's tools??

Good job aswell

By stretch I mean using the curves in Photoshop to set the black point and increase the lower values to bring out the faint details.
The gradient removal was done by using the pipette to sample the colours at the bottom right and top left corners then doing a gradient fill in a new layer. Then set the blending mode to difference.
EQ1 mount, 350D and lots of old camera lenses

I agree,  that does look good.    Will try your method when I'm off of these bloody nights.
