I recently collected just over 5 hours data over 2 nights of M42.  Mainly at 600secs; ISO800 with Takahashi FSQ106ed and modified Canon 550D on NEQ6 with MGEN guider. As I've not quite reached the stage where I can confidently process and merge data like this a friend did his best to process it for me but there is a dark line right across the middle which I don't think was there after I had stacked the images with darks, flats and bias frames in DSS.  I wonder if anyone knows what has caused this? Unfortunately I think its only a small file - 337kb!

Thats nice Annie. Its a bit clipped in the shadows so the line was probably there in the stack but stretching it has brought it to the fore. If you have a way (Dropbox) of posting some or all of the subs I will happily take a look.

I'll try sending some subs via dropbox though it won't be until tomorrow. I took about 30x600secs, 30x30secs and 30x10secs.  Would  be great if you would have a look.

Chris - here is a Dropbox link to some 600sec subs for M42.  I took 600sec subs over two nights and I think this batch were the lesser quality in that they were affected by the moon - whether this in any way resulted in the line I have no idea - probably not I guess.  I also took 30x30sec subs and 30x10sec ones.  Assuming this link is successful I can send the second batch of 600sec subs.

Many thanks
