Hello challengers,

I've captured a galaxy but having difficulties to get a decent image to show others.  May I request someone to help me edit my galaxy picture which is in TIF format?  I want it with 300dpi 20x30 inch size.

I can send it to the one who can help me via yousendit.com web site.

Thank you so much for your help and looking forward to your replies...

Clear Skies!

Boothee,

I got your file from yousendit.   I cannot see any data in it !!  I can see a few stars but only if i extream white point clip using curves i get  a tiny bit of data from m33.   I noticed that the black point is nearly clipped already.  This makes it harder for anyone trying to get the other detail out.     Is this is final stack straight from DSS ?   if not can you send that one

Hi Roger,

Thank you so much for your kind help.  Yes.  The file that I send you is the final stack straight from DSS.
After playing a bit I got some result but I believe you guys could bring out more details from it.

Please have a look at what I got.  This one is edited in 2009.

Thank you so much again for your kind help.

Boothee,

You done very well to get the above from the data in the tiff you sent.   I'd like to see what Ade can do.    Can you tell us a little more  !!   what exposures, iso, scope.   Were flats and darks used ?

Struggling with the data, there isnt much signal in the stack, this is what I came up with, after many iterations of raising the white point using curves, then suppressing the gradient using a layer mask and a darkend layer, a bit of contrast enhancement, and a wee bit of sharpening and noise reduction, sorry, it's the best I can get

Thank you so much for your kind help Ade & Roger.

I save the final TIFF file and burn and keep the original data in DVD.  I will try to find the original files and let you know the details.

Really having a nightmare with my lack of processing skills.
i have a set of 18 500sec exposures of M33 with dust bunnies and a horrible light pollution glow.

If anyone is feeling brave Please help I've given up

the files are in CR2 format

Hi billy,

If you have dust bunnies then the only way to remove them is to use calibration files (flats) and not through processing skills per se.

Billy - can you start a new thread and post up what you've got so far ?!?

Don't despair - processing is the often forgotten dark art of astro-imaging and the good news is that all it takes is tp learn a few basic processes and lots of practice.

What imaging set-up do you have and what image processing software are you using ? (best to start a new topic though as it will get a bit lost in this thread ;-))
