andromeda - or goo on the lens...?
« on: 00:24:33, 19 September, 2004 »
well, people, just a quick post to announce the viewing my very first grown up object....

after another evening wrestling with the autostar *easy* (!) align (and still no joy - i must be a muppet   ) i had a go at slewing around trying to find NGC7000 - no dice there but headed over towards Andromeda and BINGO!!!

I didn't seem to be able to see much detail, but there she was sitting across my FOV with a much fainter sister (M110?) sitting just below  her.  I must have spent 20 minites, just staring at this blur - i'm hooked.

will a higher magnification eyepeice resolve a more detailed image?

nodder if you setup as normal just allign your scope with a star you know..theres plenty of easily identifable around at the mo..scroll through autostar..find object....star..then pick the star you alligned on...say vega dont press goto just press enter for a couple of seconds ..autostar has then done a one star allignment
