which is £2500 in our money...

Wow...

http://luntsolarsystems.com/ls200t_dp_ha.html

And a 160mm H-A filter assembly too...oooh

The resolution on that Newtonian setup would be better than anything available now, by a long long way. That with a 15fps USB2.0 camera able to image at 1280 x 1024 ish...crikey...Swedish Solar Telescope for the masses (well almost)

Makes the mouth water, doesn't it! I wonder how it works though. As I understand, it uses one etalon and passes the light through it twice to get the double-stack effect. Interesting idea. Must be a complex mirror system in there somewhere though as I assume the etalon won't be 200mm in diameter!

Updated news, is that Ian King, Widescreen Centre and South Downs all have dealership on this, with equal weighting. The prices are also now listed.. in UKP on their websites

might have to have a look at those as the WPAOG are after a solar scope.

just been doing a bit of research on these and it would appear that these are being made in Tocson Arizona, which I think is where Coronado was based.

I'm guessing that the founder Andrew Lunt is the son of the late David Lunt who founded Coronado.

Marcus Ludes is on board with the optical design.

oh, and did I mention the links to Coronado? draw you own conclusions. :D

this lark isnt cheap is it? saying that the pst seems to hold up well compared to the prices of some these kits the solarscope filter and solarmax 60.

erm , the US prices for the Lunt scopes blow anything else away in its class, on paper...the proof will be seeing them..

I have been burnt somewhat badly by Coronado products in the past..thankfully a knight in shining armour stepped up and solved those problems for me...so I will be "trying before I buy" this time

Well we've taken the plunge and pre-ordered a 60mm double pass Lunt solar scope for the club.

I'll make sure and post a report when it arrives (not going to be until April at least though)
