Some news from the kitchen :) The new version is coming soon and will be released around the middle of this month. There are some fixes of annoying bugs in the user interface. I just bought one 350D so will make again tests with this model (it is with Digic II processor) and if I found something it will be fixed.

As a gesture of gratitude to everyone that supported APT, there will be some features available only in the full version. For now the list is not long, but will grow.

-Grey, green and blue skins
-Sound notification when plan is completed
-Selection of the folder where the images to be saved
Regards,
Ivo

Hi Ivo,
Thanks for news of the latest update. This program really is a cracker, I've
had no major problems since I first tried it, and it deserves to be up there with the best.

Hello Brian,

I didn't have chance to try APT with 5D, but according to the information I have it is most likely that you need separate cable (astronomiser or DSUSB). The problem is that 5D doesn't support managing of BULB and mirror locking only with USB cable. The models after 2006 can manage BULB through USB, but can't do mirror locking.

I'll be happy to hear feedback from your test!
Regards,
Ivo

Does anyone know where I can get the Canon Utilities programme, their website only allows the updates to be downloaded. I have lost my CD.

Why Canon do not allow you to download the programme from their website is beyond me AFAIA it cannot be used on rivals cameras, or am I wrong?

I know it may be too much, but I would buy APT if polar align (drift metod) option would be availiable (not sure if it is possible with DSLR?).

Hi Bamus,

Rotate-able and movable cross-wire is planned for v.1.0.9 (the version after the next one). I don't have experience with drift alignment (yet ;)), is this what is needed?

Ivo,
Yes with such an adjustable cross-wire you could easily drift align; take one shot and another a minute or so later; the drift will show against the fixed cross-wires....

Hi Ivo,

Sounds good. Will this adjustable crow wire be visible on picture taken (not only on LV mode)? This would be great option for drift align and would give huge advantage comparing to Canon Utilities  which I am using now.

Also, is your software able to adjust lenses focus from PC in LV mode?

Hi Bamus,

The cross wire is visible in both LiveView and Image Preview modes, as well as the object preview. Lens focus control is not possible in the moment, but it looks like I'll add it at later stage because other users also asked for it. :)

Ivo
