The ODK12 is finally here....here are a few pics, my first impressions are its very well built. I was worried that the mount would struggle with the weight, bvut now its on the G11 is seems to slew fine and doesnt look like its going to be a problem, but i will have to see how the extra weight effects the tracking.

any comments please

The concrete pier was storing heat from the day and radiating it during the night and spoiling the seeing....it was a simple fix ;)

Hi Peter is this a new scope in addition to the AG8? If so what prompted you to go for the ODK versus a bigger AG OTA?  Regards Jim

I'd be interested to know how your focuser copes with the weight of your camera and filter wheel.

I am not impressed personally with the build quality of those newer Orion focuser's. There OK if you're doing visual, but I still have my doubts about there strength when you're hanging cameras and filter wheels from them.

Its one I'm trying out for a while....there has been a lot of talk about these new scopes and not many images done with them, so im going to be putting it through its paces..... to be honest I'm really quite excited about this scope .....Oh and I'm so pleased with the AG8 i wouldnt swap it for anything....err except an AG12 ;)

I have had no problem with the focuser on my AG8, it will handle my H16 and filter wheel quite nicely without any noticable flex.....but you know you can fit other focusers to the AG and the ODK if you want to. The 3.5 inch feather touch will easily fit the AG and  Orion Optics will make and adaptor for the focus mount and corrector, or if you want to hang something like an FLI proline with wheel and MOG, on the end of it they will make a focus mount for the FLI PDF....so you do have other options to the standard focuser
Here is one such modification for an AG16

Hi Peter,

Like Simon has said, were itching to see how it performs. So fingers and everything else crossed for a clear sky this week-end.

Good luck, and thank you for putting a couple of things right about the focuser. I'm going to fire UP my "AG" and try again, this time with my DSLR. That's one reason for asking about the focuser.

Interesting - I placed a 'real order' for an ODK10 also in February, and it's been 'next week' every week for the last two months! I've actually upgraded the order to an ODK12 now so I think I've gone to the back of the queue again.

Regards
John
