Sometimes when I do solar system imaging I get this strange raster pattern in my images.
It's like bayer matrix but I have a mono cam.
A friend just bought QHY5 and he experienced the same thing.

Anyone else experience this and what could be the cause ?

I see what you're saying and I found a mention of this here http://www.df9cy.de/image_astro_2007/technical/ALccd5/alccd5cmoseval.htm
Haven't heard of this from any other customers though and I only use my QHY5 for guiding.

I did have once have a Colour version shipped to me masquerading as a Mono.............

I've done some further digginng and found that sometimes Registax resampling can bring out the raster.
Well, it it's already there...

This sounds nasty. Hope I haven't got one. Is there a way to be sure ?

The QHY5 Mono and Colour chips are only slightly different and difficult to tell apart.
Use QGVideo, on the colour setting, to view coloured objects with a lens or small scope and see if you get the right colours.
You'll need to use an IR block to make it clear.
