QHY5 Mono Camera
« on: 12:59:50, 22 March, 2011 »
Hi
Wondered if anyone had tried the QHY5 for solar imaging.
If so what data capture software is compatable with this camera.

Hey Dave - you shouldn't have any problem using the QHY5 for solar work.  It is the same chip size as the DMK21.

Not sure of capture software... K3CCD is one option if it doesn't come with it's own ?!?

Thanks Ade
Do you know what settings are best for solar AVI capture?

Modified ED80 with ERF on front and PST etalon.

I have a QHY5 (not the QHY5v) but prefer to use the DMK41 for AVI's
With a gain setting of 300 I would normally need 1/250 for the surface and 1/80 downwards for the proms. 1000+ frames stacked in Registax.
On a double stack I need about 1/100s for the surface and 1/11s for the proms
(BTW the ED80 is only an f7.5 system - so you will have sweet spot issues with the PST etalon...f10 and above give better results)

On the standard PST imaging at prime focus I have use a variable polariser filter as the image is just to bright, can't tell you what settings I use as I just keep adjusting the sliders for what looks 'ok'
