DSS help
« on: 20:23:12, 02 January, 2012 »
I used DSS to process this image of the witches broom (8x130 sec exposures, 5 darks) I took in September and it has taken all the colour out. I have tried adjusting the colour histograms, luminance and saturation in DSS with not much luck. Any suggestions?

I processed a similar image of the bubble nebular taken on the same night with the same set up in DSS and that came out fine.

Hey Fred - do you have any other image processing software e.g photoshop etc, as DSS isn't really the best place to do post processing !?

Yes I have PS CS3. So are you saying I should try and get the colour back in CS3?

Basically you stack the image in DSS then leave it alone, don't do any processing in there. Save it as a TIFF file then open it in PS CS3, use that to process the data. Usually using levels, curves and sharpness etc. Loads of tutorials online on here and on youtube.

Yeap, exactly as Phil says !

Also, remember to tick the option in DSS to <Align RGB Channels In Final Image> in the Results tab in the Stacking options !

Thanks Guys, the 'Align RGB Channels In Final Image' sorted it out.
