M 040 - Double Star in Ursa Major
« on: 15:30:21, 21 August, 2012 »
Also known as Winnecke 4 - this is the star double which is regarded as a mistake by Messier as it wasn't a nebular or cluster...

Very bad gradients from this one as it was near a tree & streetlamp... good old DBE from PixInsight sorted out most of it. There are quite a number of other subjects in this one & I will need to return to it when it is more favourably placed.

This is a combination of 60s & 600s exposures (the shorter were when the branches were *just* in the fov) - 70 minutes total.

Camera : SXVR-H16
Guider : Lodestar on ZS66
OTA : AA 102mm f/7 triplet
Mount : Celestro CGE
