Soul Nebula ( Well most of it anyway )
« on: 21:34:45, 18 September, 2012 »
As the title says,  I wasn't sure of my FOV at the time as i left my handbook at home.

Anyway when the first 15 min exposure showed up on the screen i was gobsmacked with the anount of detail it was picking up, so i carried on

6x15 mins again with the H9 & 7Nm Ha filter.  Only combined & stacked in maxim with a DDP pass.   Slight S curve in Cs3

Lots of detail there Roger. Its a big beast isnt it. I have to say this is one of the nice things about The Sky, field of view indicators for all the scope/camera combinations you use so you can overlay it on objects before finding out they dont fit.

Wonderful image Rog... we are getting some awesome images out of Kelling this year!

Chris has made a good point here.... as you get comfortable/confident with your imaging rig, you NEED to have some indication of what will or will not fit your FOV.... most of the planetarium progs have the facility to input your imaging details such that a visual indication can be seen of what will fit on the camera - VERY useful & avoids disappointment in the field.

Thanks All,

As to the FOV Chris & Phil,  I just can't seem to get it working on my Sky6 pro for some reason, that's why i was impressed when at yours Phil,  What were you using again Starry night ?

Seem to remember it being very unintuitive in Sky6, easy in Sky X :-(

That's what i thought Chris,  I csan set it up but when zooming into the object it takes ages & then I'm awash with stars,   Lappy is pretty quick 3gb Ram Dual core.   Maybe i should back off how many stars i see.
