Veil with 200mm lens on astrotrac
« on: 13:54:11, 21 September, 2012 »
I have had great difficulty processing this until I discovered that a light frame had slipped into the darks  :embarrass:

It consists of an hours worth of 5 minute subs with  a modified Canon 40D and 200mm L lens mounted on an astrotrac. The camera was set on iso 800 and f2.8.

I still found it difficult to process due to the vast number of stars which swamp the nebula.

Great field of view there, Dave..

To me, on my works screen, it seems a little bit too "contrasty"... almost like when an image is over sharpened...

Ooodles of stars in there - nice.

Very nice widefield, fits a treat, but as Phil says, looks like the unsharp masking might be a bit OTT

Thanks for the comments Phil and Chris. I haven't done any sharpening at all. Perhaps I've stretched it too far - might have another play with it. It is slightly cropped.
