HEQ5 Tripod or pillar mount.
« on: 19:51:53, 13 May, 2013 »
I am waiting on delivery of an HEQ5 to upgrade from EQ5 for imaging.

Your comments on the practicality and quality of a pillar mount will be interesting.
Thanks.

I have the skywatcher heq5/eq5 pillar on which I am using my cg5 with an st102 or 200p. It's early days yet but I am impressed with the build quality.

I have removed the adjustable feet and have the pillar stood on a patio. It's not really stable enough as it is and I plan to bolt it down.

I leave the mount on it with a hood over it, to save polar alignment, but it does get a little damp.

How are you thinking of using a pillar?
