Holiday this year was (as usual) in Crackington Haven, North Cornwall.
This view of the milky way is a panoramic montage of 6 frames.Panoramic conversion done with microsoft ICE. The images were in portrait format, to catch the full arch of the milky way. The "light pollution" visible was from Boscastle direction but wasn't visible to me. It was dark!
Here's a link to a modified version  www.flickr.com/photos/caelmk/9694488511/lightbox
Each frame -Canon 650D  11mm f2.8 30seconds. 22nd July.

Here my contributions ... all processed with DeepSkyStacker and Canon Digital Photo Professional, using dark, bias and flat frames.

All images have been taken from the South African Astronomical Observatory near Sutherland, Northern Cape, during a work related trip to install the SALT-HRS spectrograph at the Southern African Large Telescope.

I do not know how to layout this as the image line does not show up in the edit mode. I just named them (i), (ii) and (iii) and the descriptions are in order with the sequence of the images below it.

(i) Galactic centre with Venus and zodiacal light

22nd of September 2013. Canon EOS 40D with 17-85mm lens at 17mm f/4.5. 1600 ISO, 7x3min tracked with Astrotrac 320TT.
This picture was APOD of 2013 October 17 18 (sorry for getting this wrong before, just checked).

(ii) Orion and what is below it - as we do not see it from the UK. The view stretches all out to Canopus, with the winter milky way to the left.
12th of November 2013, Canon EOS40D h-alpha modified. 17-85mm at 17mm, f/5.6, 1600 ISO. 10x3min tracked with Astrotrac 320TT.

(iii) Constellations of Centaurus and Crux including the Coal Sack, Alpha Centauri being the bright star at the bottom left Canon EOS 40D, Sigma lens 24-70 at 70mm, f/3.2. 1600 ISO, 12 x 3min. Tracked with Astrotrac 320TT.

Clear skies,

Juergen

My scopes: 30 year old Tasco 60/700 on 10K mount and a few others ...

If you have no friends, just buy a lathe and things will change.
