« on: 12:57:09, 30 August, 2013 »
As I have some free money this month, I was thinking of getting a Quattro - 8S and Coma corrector . . . .

Can anyone give me any reviews on this kit from personal experience.

Many thanks

What's your main poison Mike (i.e. what are you wishing to do with it) ?

Planetary/ Constellation imaging more than anything Si, I was going for two primary scopes at the start but didn't have the funds then, now I do . . .

Or . . . . would I be better off sticking the pennies in the piggy back and saving up for a Triplet?

A triplet gets my vote every time mate (I looooove my 111EDT and it's a cracker on the planets [see below])... the only downside is the focal length and f/ratio for some objects but I can live with that

the 8" quarto is only f4 & more suited to DSO stuff,  I have the GSO 8" f4 & I wouldn't use it for planets.    you want a higher f/l than the newt really.  A sct is well suited for planetry work.

I have the opportunity to get my hands on SW 150 Mak pro for £300 which sounds like a really good deal, I took a picture of jupiter last friday and I have to say, with a 500mm focal length at F6.25, it was pretty lame!!

I was thinking of getting the MAK for planets, the sun and the moon and keeping my APO for the wide field stuff, will I be making a good purchase buying this?
