Lunar (Werner) "X" dates for 2014
« on: 18:36:28, 08 January, 2014 »
Only a couple of hours late this year... although if you get out there (and have clear skies   :tease:) it may still just be visible !

As with the other years the actual start times will vary according to your position ! Also remember that some of them are during the day   ;)

Once again, happy hunting  and it would be good to see some images of it this year as not sure we saw any last

Thanks for that post. Fancy trying to spot some of these and if I do I will certainly try to image them. I have never tried before. Do you normally use the Yanks date format ;-)

You're welcome guys.

Yeap, I last got it in 2012 too Rog so must try harder this year.

Ian - afraid so as they seem to be the only ones that calculate it. As far as my feeble brain can see the angle of incidence between the sun and the moon will be the same at those times so it should be the same for us as it's UT time.

I was going to try and get this in November but it was clouded-out. I was thinking about it again for tomorrow morning as it looks like it's going to be clear but I see the Moon dips below the horizon just before the critical time!

With at least 12 chances a year, you would think it would be easy enough to catch one of them?
