Kelling - a quick M42
« on: 21:01:43, 31 March, 2014 »
Whilst waiting for it to clear more.... and as a demo to Barry as to how EQMod guiding can be zeroed in, had a quick M42 (groan... I know... another...) as an easy target.

Orion was disappearing fast into the mush that is Holt (& the rugby club's lights *sigh*) - could hardly see the sword visually so had to work reasonably hard at the gradients in PixInsight... The conditions were not great!

Enough of the excuses.... M42, 6 x 300s L's, SXVR-H16 on the Altair 102mm triplet, guided with the Lodestar (via a x2 barlow) on the Altair Guider scope, all on the good ol' sexy black EQ6 Pro...

Pixinsight was same as the M13 - Bias calibration, DBE 3 times, Histogram stretch, slight curves, cropped to 800x800 for here

Phil

p.s. Barry: I didn't save the tracking log, but FYI the guiding didn't jump above 1/2 a pixel... RMS I believe was around 0.4 pixels

Very good considering you could only just make out the belt stars in the gloom.
