Funny, it looks little blotchy in browser (Firefox) but when I save the jpg and open it in IrfanView it's much darker.

Not all browsers treat embedded colour profiles equally so it is a bit pot luck as to how something appears in a specific browser. Firefox has a few issues with the embedded sRGB profile whereas IrfanView will interpret it correctly. It is all a bit of a minefield.

Usually it's no problem.
Anyway, did some googling and found this (to be the cure):
