7D MKII is now on my rig
« on: 00:56:25, 24 December, 2014 »
After seeing the review on the 7DMKII for astro use I decided I had to have one. Picked it up a couple of days ago. Haven't been able to use it yet the weather has been awful the past 3 weeks. Ever since the Argo Navis showed up at my door :) Supposed to clear out tomorrow for a couple of days so I'll get to test it out. For my two big loves in photography AP and motorsports it should be the bees knees. We'll see.

The 7DMkI is the best of the Canons I have owned as an all rounder and the MkII looks to be more of the same.

I'm starting to think I messed up totally getting all this gear so close together. I've had the Argo Navis for over a month now and have had one night out with it so far. We do need the rain though so I'll just keep on plugging away on PixInsight and by the time it all clears out I'll be ready to go on that front too. I think its going to be an awesome AP camera though and I love shooting motorsports and its perfect for that as well.

I have the 7D and love it, though I'm very close to buying a 6D for the full frame sensor and the much better low light sensitivity! Looking forward to seeing your results with the 7DII

7d2 is 14% less noisy and almost a third of a stop more sensitive. And you get the added bonus of a crop sensor that makes all the little fuzzies bigger. Check out the data clarkvision.com He has most of the Canon cameras there. 7D2 is the new king. One of the three shots I took the first night out with it.

And this is a 10 second exposure of M42

Brought into PI auto stretched. The moon was up so lots of background I raised the blackpoint to deal with that on this shot. The moon was only about 10deg away. Testing my guider so I'll be ready for the next moonless stretch.

I'd hope they would have fixed the banding issue. I'm not having much luck with PI's Canon band removal too. Never the less, great shots. I think I may move to a CCD after I stretch my legs a bit longer on my 7D MKI
