IAS 2015?
« on: 10:47:31, 09 September, 2015 »
Hello everyone,

I'll be at Kelling on Saturday during the day, so hopefully will meet some of you there! I also noticed on Astronomy Now the ads for the IAS 2015, early October near Birmingham. Anyone knows about that and if it's worth a visit? Anyone will be there? :)

I don't think I can make it this year but Simon (Nomis Elfactum) will be there as will Phil (PJShep) and no doubt a few others. It is worth a trip to have a drool over some of the kit on show but perhaps best to leave credit cards at home! If you are thinking of buying something it is a good opportunity to ask questions in person though it does get rather busy!

IAS is a big show with a lot of UK and international vendors showing off the latest astro gear. I'm told on the Friday it even made last year's NEAF look a bit empty by comparison.

The exhibition venue is large, it's easy to get to with free parking, there are talks, etc.

This year we (Altair) will be joined by SkyVision who will be showing off their latest high tech GOTO AZ and Newtonian Astrograph systems and mounts, Robin Glover author of SharpCap, and of course the good gents from UKAI. We'll also have plenty of iOptron mounts, Daystar Ha filter systems and a plethora of Altair Astro equipment on display and sale.

Be good to meet you there

All right, thanks for the info :)

Looking forward to meet UKAI people (Chris etc.) and AA (Nick etc.) at Kelling on Saturday, hopefully I'll find you there :)

And then it seems I might book one night at the hotel to be there Friday evening and stay for the Saturday, there are also a couple of interesting talks!

Just had a look at the website and I may see if I can pop down to this, either for a long day or stay over.

However, you would think that an Astronomy website like that would know that the moon is older than 25 days!! I mean come on. Even I know it's a few billion years old. Pft, 25 days indeed!
