ahhh...

I have a "scarecrow" for the cats who "used" to occupy my garden - got it from Amazon originally

Strangely, they seem to be a little scared of it  :suspious: :suspious: :suspious:

LOL I'm going to have to get me one of those! Damn Heron has eaten all my pond fish :-(

Like the Obs setup Mark, a bit dull in there though - maybe a mirror ball would brighten things up there a bit :-)

LED strip lights, that's what you need for brightening up :) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10-5M-SMD-5050-3528-RGB-150-300-600-LED-Strip-Adapter-IR-Remote-Waterproof-Kit-/151224383150?var=&hash=item2335acf6ae

...not convinced on the wiring, either :)

Thanks Chris. Mirror ball, lasers and smoke machine would be tempting  :pirate:

Tom, that was the third attempt at the wirirng. I had to wrap the Eqdir cable round the counter weight shaft for now until I can get it shortened at work. I may spend the day again tomorrow re wiring...........the missus thinks I'm mad

My suggestion, although not sure how well it works here, is to bring all the wires to a single fixed point just above the join between the dec and Ra axis.  That point never moves.. everything rotates around it.

and then run the wires sideways (on a pole preferably) to  north of the mount where the computer is.

In my photo I've actually rigged up a sort of "scaffold" to hold the wires.

Here it is in the bad old days

Nice idea Tom. I try to keep power and data separate in case of interference (cables are shielded so it shouldn't matter too much). I guess there will never be a 'correct' way to wire up these things  I'm just glad nothing snags while the mount is moving

I always imagine on the "big" scopes, there are people whose entire job is just cable management.

Can we hire them?!?! :)
