Galileo Museum - Florence
« on: 10:05:33, 31 October, 2015 »
Tucked in amongst all the Renaissance art repositories is a fascinating collection of early timepieces, surveying and navigation instruments and telescopes as well as a huge Armillary Sphere representing the "universal machine" developed by Aristotle and perfected by Ptolemy, placing the earth at the centre of the heavens http://www.museogalileo.it/en/visit.html. Its quite amazing to think that many of the discoveries that we now take for granted were made using such instruments.
