CCD cameras lens rig
« on: 22:11:14, 09 November, 2015 »
Been busy over the weekend making a rig for a CCD to take  Canon 50/100/200mm lenses
I've yet to make a finder bracket for the Geoptik. The motor is a geared 10 rpm robotics affair.I turned a spindle to fit a gear from a printer and used the toothed drive belt to drive the lens focus. The slots are to tension the belt and different lenses.. All works from an old Meade focus controller with variable speed and on board batteries. The Geoptic has a HA filter in and is quite frankly a right pain to change but I hope to make some filter removal tools similar to the one Atik supplies with the One series to make life easier.
It is bolted to a dovetail bar but thinking of it's own geared mount.
I have a set of stepdown rings for aperture control and repairing a dew band that went rogue and got a tad hot.
Nice little project for a wet weekend, could be a while before I get chance to use it though.......

Nice little rig   Great little focuser setup.  :big_clap: :big_clap: Is weight a problem ?, I would like to use my old pentax 300mm lens as a guide scope but the weight might be a problem.

Thanks John, It's been done before, just my take on the set up. Just weighed it and it is 2.2 kilos, I don't consider that a problem but I suppose it depends on what you want to mount it on.
