Phd2 error
« on: 21:32:46, 07 December, 2015 »
I'm imaging ATM but everytime an image downloads the guide camera disconnects,  I have to re connect the camera & begin guiding again.

This is one I'll follow with interest. I have similar problems and not just with image downloads, mine also drops the camera when I change screens to Starry Night and APT. I've changed usb hubs, cables, fed imaging camera direct to pc and not found an answer yet. So let's see if anybody comes up with an answer.

Have you changed anything since it was working? Is this with SGPro in the mix? Trying running PHD on its own in simulation mode and taking a Bias frame with the imaging camera, does it still happen? The Lodestar is quite USB sensitive and likes nice short USB cables to the nearest powered hub. I run a very short (300mm?) USB cable from the Trius to the Lodestar.

no nothings changed chris,   The USB into the back of the 694 is about 4" so that's not a problem.    Yes it's with SGP in the mix,  I've also just updated that to the latest version.
I've read that it could be PHD and have updated it to 2.5 dev 9 the latest version.    Clear later tonight so I'll give it a go.    I've had a number of fail errors lately

SGP time out as it could not refresh PHD profiles.
Pulse Guiding command to mount had failed

Rog

I think one or two more

I've also just updated that to the latest version.

Is there a setting in SGP to pause guiding during image download? Some of the SBIG cameras need this so that might have been switched on in the update process.

You should be able to test it using the simulator in PHD. If it works in the simulator and not for real, that would be more indicative of a USB issue. Are you powering the Trius using 13.8 volts from a bench supply? I do find that running a Trius camera off a battery that when the voltage drops below 12 volts, the internal hub doesn't manage to provide enough USB power for the Lodestar resulting in drop outs.

Chris

ps I had loads of gremlins last night on start up after a few weeks of not being used.

Cheers Chris,

I have a go in sim mode, (if I can remember where it is )        I didn't know about the voltage part I thing I'm just putting 12v through it, but i'll check.

I've just read that phd has a time out setting of 5 seconds & upping this should clear the time out error.    Fingers crossed as keeping en eye on the remote screen is a real PITA  I got side tracked a couple of times and had ruined exposures,  but there was a lot of high haze so all last night was a waste really.

Hope you're enjoying your clear skies... you've obviously got the clear sky we had all afternoon here but clouded out now... this weather is doing my nut in !

Hope you get it sorted Rog... should really fire mine up just to make sure it's working should it ever clear here !

It's the timeout in PHD I upped it to about 200 seconds & didn't disconnect once.   Mind you I had to backdate the lappy to a different restore point as I couldn't open PHD or SGP it just hung, I think it was a critical update.

but happy now I don't have to get on the pc every exposure.

Thanks for the tip on time out setting Roger, I'll give that a try on my setup.
