Astronomik CLS or CLS-CCD Clip Filter
« on: 10:11:33, 20 March, 2016 »
Hi Guys
I want to get back into doing some Astro Imaging with my “Unmodded” Canon 450D.
I will be using my Meade LX10 8” SCT OTA on my HEQ5 mount
I will also be using my 0.63 Celestron focal reducer to give me f6.3
I need to get either an Astronomik CLS  or CLS-CCD Clip Filter to put into the 450D to cut down on light pollution when taking subs longer than 2 minutes.
My question is which option should I go for ?
CLS  or  CLS-CCD   ?
Your help would be very much appreciated
Graham

Hi,
Simple answer is that if your camera is unmodded, then you only need the CLS non CCD version, the only difference is that the CCD version has IR cut.
Even if you decide to have your camera modded, I would guess you would have the normal Astro mod, which removes one of the two filters in front of the camera sensor, the one that cuts the Ha signal by around 60%, the second filter is left in place as it gives very good IR cut, which you need.
Now if you went for a full spectrum mod, meaning both filters removed, then you would need the CCD version filter.

Hope that helps
Stew
