Some Lodestar Wide field from Kelling April 2016
« on: 00:10:26, 13 April, 2016 »
Despite going visual for the majority of this Kelling, I just couldn't resist doing some simple astro photography..... These are all Lodestar x2 with an F1 lens from Bern @ Modern Astronomy... it does have some vignetting due to the size of the Lodestar chip, as it was designed to be used on a QHY5....  I just plugged in a 2M USB active extension & pointed the camera in the direction of the constellations!

All images are a stack of 20 x 3 second images, processed in Pixinsight (aligned, stacked, DBE, Histogram stretched only), annotated in Maxim (it has a great manual annotate routine for this)

The Lodestar was just in a laser holder, on a tripod pointed at the constellations & using the Starlight Live software (from the SX website).... dead easy!

I have Leo, Bootes & Hercules still to come....

Thanks, Tapio.... I quite like setting up the constellation annotations.... albeit a tad challenging!

Thanks Chris.... at least it proves I wasn't totally visual this year.... (totals from the objects from 3 nights : 126 objects... breakdown to come)

Owl is definitely only one finger down :-)

  at least I didn't use my other measuring device !
