Finally succumbed to temptation
« on: 16:27:19, 30 April, 2016 »
Well, I’ve finally taken the plunge and added a pier mounted NEQ6 Pro SynScan to my set-up.  It’s been modified with a heavy-duty saddle plate and upgraded latitude/altitude adjustment bolts.  The Atik one-shot colour camera has now been replaced by a Trius 694 mono camera with 7 position filter wheel (LRGB, Ha, OIII, SII), controlled via SG Pro.  A very recent addition is a QHY-PoleMaster (which is very impressive), so there is no longer any excuse for poor polar alignment.  Initial tests with the camera and filter wheel have been encouraging and just a bit more practice is needed with SG Pro over the next few clear nights.  The pier is protected by a heavy-duty green waterproof cover when not in use, as I’m trying hard to resist the temptation to build an observatory dome….
