Who is still up/ imaging
« on: 00:01:19, 26 November, 2016 »
Hi Guys,
Tonight everything is work almost perfectly, I am just waiting for my RGB to finish on M45. The sky looks as if it may stay clear all night
After this run I plan on doing the Horsehead. You all know I can't process for toffee and things generally don't go well for me - obvious by lack of images posted . So what should I shoot on the HH - LRGB or Ha (7nm)?
Let me know your thoughts

P.S. Never done the HH before

I'm up - clear skies here and so as long as they stay that way I'll be collecting data. You want both Ha and LRGB so your choice - if your skies are good (no mist) then go for the LRGB while you can. H-alpha can be got under more challenging conditions if necessary.

Hi Chris,
Thanks for your reply, at least there is someone still about. Oops, I have gone for Ha, I like mono
I am a bit limited from my current setup position so will only be able to get 10x600sec. I appreciate I will need way more but I am starting to get things working more consistently and am confident I can achieve repeatability, fingers crossed. If I was to go for purely Ha what is a reasonable integration time?

What subject are you currently on?

Depends which scope you're using, but the target is bright so 10min will get you some nice features. Longer is generally bettter though so I usually go for 2-3x that myself.

I'm on the Flaming Star Neb and Tadpoles (ic410), it just went over the meridian (so at its highest elevation) and in that position I'm currently collecting the blue channel - the trickiest. It won't get completed tonight, and I really would like to collect some M42 data before the end of the session.

Hi Chris,
Good luck. I am using 150p with 0.9 reducer, so f4.5

But late now, but I'd go for HaLRGB on the HH.
