Fully automated pulsar dome now fully
« on: 13:58:43, 19 December, 2016 »
Hi

After many years of trying to complete a fully automated imaging set up I finally managed it. Last month I completed the automated dust cover and now Ii have fixed the issues with opening the shutter
by using a roller chain. Please see other post regarding dome rotation and my Pleiades dome control software. The system will automatically shut and closed down at a specific time after all the images have been
taken. And a rain sensor will closed the dome shutter if activated. Now just need a few night with clear weather knowing I can go to bed to going the observatory (should !!!) shut down correctly.

Regards

John

Looks a great setup!

What happens if you get a power cut - does it automatically close the shutter?

Hi

It is noisy from inside the obsevatory but only last 25 seconds and you cant here it from the house. Have two 12 v batteries , one for rotation and one for the shutter. So power cuts aint a issue. Also a
volt meter on them to ensure the solar panels charge them enough. At this time of year I charge them fully about every month just to maintain them.
