Kelling Heath Starparty April 2017
« on: 10:12:27, 12 April, 2017 »
Hi Guys, see you there on the yellow pitch as usual! We'll be arriving on Thursday afternoon.

Firstly we've some new stuff to show you. We were approached by some new manufacturers to distribute their products earlier this year:

Pegasus Astro - Dew controllers, Power management, and the popular motor focus kits. This is really well made stuff and the technical support is top-notch. Being able to manage power to your equipment with a Smartphone or PC is such a cool idea!

APM - recently approached us to distribute their products, and I'd like to invite you to try the APM 152mm ED refractor at the show. I'm tempted to swipe one from stock - they're pretty good! I'll pop a Quark on one if it's sunny too.

Artesky Italy - make really nice padded equipment bags for refractors, SCTs and mounts. Made in Italy. Also a very nice flat-field panel which we'll have on display.

Our regular products will be there too on demo, including:

iOptron Mounts, iEQ30, iEQ45, CEM range, Skytracker, etc. And some bargain ex demo mounts with the latest firmware upgrades and 1 year warranty.
Daystar - Sodium, Calcium and Hydrogen Alpha Quarks and accessories.
SkyVision T500 GOTO 0.5m Dob again
SkyVision MTN250 F3.6 Newtonian Astrograph (tastiest piece of kit I've seen for some time!)
Altair Hypercam and GPCAM cameras on special! Prices TBA!
Altair Refractors, Eyepieces, Diagonals, Finders, etc.
Altair Filters, Narrowband, CLS, etc.
Altair mounting hardware
New range of extensions and spacers with easy grip.
Altair Premium Imaging/Visual 2" Herschel Wedge (this will be on demo and taking pre-orders at the show, main production run arrives about a week after).
Altair 100mm Binos (on demo and taking orders for the next shipment in June)

I'll probably think of more but that's the basics...

All the best from Nick & Ian

We're arriving Wednesday, our usual pitch yellow 149. In fact we're going to another campsite today so we can get there in good time to set up on Wed.

Well.... It all depends on which debarcle of a booking system they use this time..... It's supposed to be that you can book your own pitch again for the next one.... Who got your pitch this time, Rog?

What I was told by Kelling when I checked in last year was that you can book "a" pitch for next year having checked in for the current one and that phone bookings would only be taken from the Monday after Kelling weekend. There were quite a few people wandering about on Weds/Thurs discussing the merits of certain pitches to go and book. Rog and I tried putting people off with the "toilet lights are a pain" but people did notice how much less windy it was in the Yellow VIP area, hence the pressure on booking.

The presence of the UKAI encampment should be enough to put anyone off booking nearby  :canadian:
