2nd really clear night in a row :-)
Comet 41P Tuttle-Giacobini-Kresak passing M108 and M97 the Owl nebula.
Dug the old DSLR out of mothballs for this one, as capturing moving objects in RGB colour with a mono CCD is a very frustrating process for me.
Single 5 min exposure with Canon 1000D + CLS clip filter & Altair Starwave 102 Apo @ f5.6.

Great capture Lee. I did think about trying this one night before last but though it would be way past its best by now.

Thanks,  the grouping was shown at our society meeting last saturday as a challenge as to who could get it, just lucky it was clear that night LOL

Great capture Lee

Was this a composite shot? The comet and stars aren't streaked at all which is surprising for a 5 min exposure. It's something I'm struggling with. I'm trying to find a tutorial on how to combine, star stacked and comet nucleus stacked images in to one.

Thanks,
No its not a composite, this is a single 5 min exposure, the stars won't be trailed as I was its a guided image, the comet is slightly trailed but at this low magnification isn't very noticeable.
