First light 8"sct + Jupiter
« on: 22:50:29, 09 May, 2017 »
From the newly acquired SCT from Ade I decided to have a crack at the Big Gas Giant Jupiter.    Not being properly polar aligned n I had problems with it drifting  ( I can't see Polaris from this imaging spot ) and a tad tweek at collimation on a star

best 500 from 1500 Using the GP cam + 2.5 Barlow

Not too bad for a novis at this sort of imaging

Great effort Rog... just needs a bit more colour saturation for me (or is it mono... hard to tell... been along day)  ;)

That scope must have had nearly as many owners as your LXD55... do you or Ade have it... I've lost track....  :scare:

Welcome back

Is it me. Or have you also resolved that moon.
I was our last night night. Trying my best to capture the giant. But I my images are not as good as yours.

Not a bad start Rog, nice detail on the surface, possibly needs a colimation tweak as the moons look a bit soft, I found the scope very dependant on good seeing, but when the seeing is good, it's a great lump of glass

Good to see it in use again, it had spent far too long in a box in my observatory

Very nice. If that's Ganymede than I'd say there's detail.
