Hello from Portugal
« on: 22:06:08, 14 September, 2017 »
Hello everyone,

I'm Paulo, from Portugal. I've recently started playing around with photographing the night sky (with obvious beginner results :) ). Hopefully I'll get better with practice.

Glad to meet you.

Hi Paulo,

Welcome to the forum.
We all have to start somewhere. Putting your DSLR on a tripod to shoot skyscapes. Is as good a way as any.

hi Paulo and a warm welcome to UKAI.

Most of started out putting a DSLR on a tripod and pointing it at the night sky and you can get some nice results that way. Be sure to share your results.

Welcome indeed Paulo - I'll be in Portugal next June for a six day photography (terrestial) workshop.  My first trip to Portugal.

Have fun with your nightscapes.

Welcome aboard.
When I was younger oh so much younger than today...I visited south coast of Portugal twice, first time a week trip (Praia da Rocha, Portimao, Sagres) and second time interrail trip.
Loved the place.

There was (is?) this astro site near Portimao - ah this: https://www.coaa.co.uk/
Don't know how much light pollution is nuisance there now.

Big welcome to UKAI Paulo - good to have you with us.

If you post up your first attempts we'll be happy to give so advice/encouragement.

As already said, most of us started out by just pointing a DSLR at the sky on a tripod and indeed some of us still do (here's an image I took in Yellowstone, USA a few weeks ago  ;) ))
