Last nights moon, first success with camera
« on: 11:03:06, 07 November, 2017 »
So this was from last night, my first sort-of success with the CCD camera and autostakkert. This was shot on a Celestron 130EQ and an Altair GPCAM, trying to use the motor drive but it does not really want to keep up.

To be perfectly honest I don't have a clue what I am doing here, I have had to take the SER file from the camera, convert it to an AVI and then load it into adobe premiere to select a *short* section to then pass to autostakkert.

I think the issue here is that I am taking a long video of the moon as it passes, the tripod and motor drive for all my efforts in setup will not keep the moon still so the long video is causing real issues for the stacker, the video starts with the moon entering on the left and exiting on the right, clearly not ideal. I am also tinkering with the focus, trying to correct stuff on the fly so, I don't have a still and stable video to start with, hence chopping up small sections in premiere.

Anyway, with all that said this is what I got last night, first processing job, I will look at the others now but they are all pretty much going to be the same.

Am I identifying those craters correctly?

Look right to me, comparing them with Virtual Moon Atlas.
Nice one.

Hiya..

AutoStakkert takes SER files for input.... did you try it?

or is it because you were just trying to get some of the frames?

Yes, some of the frames.

I took a long video that included a few repositions of the telescope, some refocussing, lots of stuff. I only wanted a 400 frame or so section where the image was relatively stable.
