SGP
« on: 19:40:36, 08 March, 2018 »
I have noticed that my SGP is on a trial licence with 28 days to go, Noticed this last night. How ever I have paid, maybe a couple of years ago for v2.6 Now I’m not sure if when I upgraded to v3.0.0.7 it’s started a count down of a trial period. When going to register a the machine in the observatory and after putting im my email & password I get Licence not found.

Any ideas

Version 3 is a paid upgrade so when you download and install it its a trial licence until paid for. I personally dont like how they have done this.

They are not the only ones to do this... have come across this will all sorts of software...

I hate the fact that the onus is on US to roll back & re-install an older version.... *sigh*  the age of "let the tick box rule us"

I don't mind SGP,   Only flaw with SGP is it's ABORT when loosing the guide star,  on a number of occasions it got to 19 mins on a 20 min exposure & lost the guide star due to a fleeting cloud & aborts the exposure.  I have asked if something can be done to allow you to at least save the image & let me choose if I want to chuck it away or not,

They don't think it's a good idea.

As to this post & have asked on there about me being on a 30 trial,  Not one has commented.       I find the people behind SGP are very picky who they reply too.

For that reason I now guide independently of SGPro

Dave, are your guiding and SGP aware of each other - ie dithering and meridian flip etc?

No, I have lost dithering ability and I have never used SGPro to automate the meridian flip. I do that as needed. i.e park scope and then GOTO. The plate solving is quick and I'm soon back on target.

Hi Roger,
The count down refers to V3 which is a 45 day trial version.
You have two choices.
1 revert to version 2.#.
2 Pay for version 3.
If I remember you all have already purchased the Framing and Mosaic and the Good Night Sleep add-ons. So the cost for the upgrade is approx. £14.00 depending the exchange rate.

What's new in V3  do you know ?

Rog

P.S Dave,  I thought about guiding outside if SGP but the dithering & PHD not knowing on a meridian flip.
